BMW is currently testing M2 Coupe

A new report indicates BMW is currently testing M2 Coupe prototypes with an uprated N55 engine.

The N55 N55B30T0 engine is the same inline-six Twin-power Turbo 3.0-liter engine inside the currently range-topping M235i Coupe. However, BMW's engineers are tweaking the motor to increase its output from the current 326 HP (240 kW) to somewhere in the region of 380 HP (279 kW). The report suggests BMW is testing the engine in conjunction with both manual and automatic gearboxes.

If the M2 will see the light of production day, expect to find the newly introduced chassis tech from the M3 Sedan / M4 Coupe duo, as well as an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential (aka Active M Differential) and a quad exhaust arrangement.

Looking sporty and luxurious, the model has a distinctive front fascia with a unique grille, bespoke headlights and large air intakes. There's also subtle contours, an upward sweeping character line and L-shaped taillights.

The 2-Series is slightly larger than its predecessor as it is 72mm longer, 32mm wider and has a wheelbase that has been stretched by 30mm. This results in a more accommodating cabin that boasts additional head- and legroom as well as a larger trunk that holds up to 390 liters (13.7 cubic feet) of luggage.

The cabin is heavily influenced by the 1-Series and comes equipped with cloth seats and satin silver trim. Options include Dakota leather upholstery, brushed aluminum or fine-line stream wood trim and a 6.5- or 8.8-inch iDrive display.

As usual, the 2-Series will be offered in Sport Line, Modern Line and the M Sport trim. The latter adds an aerodynamic body kit, a revised grille and a chrome exhaust finisher. There's also a sport-tuned suspension (which reduces the ride height by 10mm) and 17-inch M light alloy wheels. The model also boasts sport seats, aluminum hexagon trim, M-brand sill plates and revised instrumentation.

A probable launch date is sometime in 2016.

Subaru car in Japan - Al Ain Japan

Subaru is allegedly plotting a special edition BRZ but don't get your hopes up too high as it won't feature turbocharging.

Our colleagues from Car & Driver have obtained information about an upcoming Subaru BRZ special edition that will be revealed later this year. While many are waiting for Subaru to finally turbocharge the BRZ, it seems the special edition will come only with cosmetic changes such as a front lip spoiler, STI badging and bespoke alloy wheels. The kit will also include a rear wing and different side skirts to complete the exterior look.

Don't expect to find the handling tweaks implemented in the Japan-exclusive BRZ tS which also comes with a few upgrades in the braking and suspension departments. For those who can't wait anymore for a factory turbo for the BRZ, there are many aftermarket specialist willing to apply forced induction on the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter boxer engine of the BRZ which in naturally aspirated form delivers 200 HP (147 kW).

On the outside it is distinguished by STI 17-inch black alloy wheels and a black look for the side mirrors. It will be available with a variety of body paint schemes, while the cabin is set to get two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats. Above the instrument panel it will have black Alcantara with contrast tan stitching also found at the doors' top section and on the sides of the center console.

Other upgrades worth mentioning include the aluminum pedals, STI engine button, silver accents and a carbon fiber trim on the dashboard. Subaru also used tan leather for the doors, and black leather with tan stitching on the gearbox and handbrake levers.

Scheduled to go on sale exclusively in Japan at the end of the year, the Subaru BRZ Premium Sport Edition will have a starting price of 3,034,500 yen (approximately 31,000 USD / 22,600 EUR / 19,300 GBP).

Lancia - Al Ain Japan

he Lancia Ypslion has received a digital makeover from Khalil B. who envisioned the model in a hotter HF version.

Most of you have probably heard that Lancia is in a critical condition since Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has announced the brand will soon be offered only in Italy and they will sell just one model, the Ypsilon. Now, Khalil B. decided to digitally create a hotter version of the model wearing the legendary "HF"” (High Fidelity) moniker.

The more potent Lancia Ypsilon envisioned in these renders wears a slightly more aggressive body kit with beefier bumpers, larger alloy wheels, muscular side skirts and a roof-mounted spoiler. It also comes with a dual exhaust arrangement and red accents on the rear diffuser while the mirrors wear a two-tone red and black theme.

At launch, three different engines will be available. The 1.2-liter EVO produces 69 PS (51 kW / 68 hp) and 102 Nm (75 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 14.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 163 km/h (101 mph). In terms of efficiency, owners can expect to average 4.5 L/100km (62.8 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 115 g/km.

For something more powerful, the 0.9-liter TwinAir two-cylinder develops 85 PS (63 kW / 84 hp) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to the extra oomph, the dash from 0-100 km/h takes 11.9 seconds and the top speed is 176 km/h (109 km/h). Despite the extra grunt, the TwinAir is impressively efficient as it has an average fuel consumption of 4.2 L/100km (67.3 mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of 99 g/km.

On the diesel side, the 1.3-liter MultiJet II has 95 PS (70 kW / 94 hp) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque.  It enables the Ypsilon to run from 0-100 km/h in 11.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 183 km/h (114 mph). Lastly, the engine averages 3.8 L/100km (74.3 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of 99 g/km.

Inside, the cabin is highly-customizable but all models have a center-mounted instrument cluster and metallic accents. Three different trim levels will be offered and the range-topping variant has leather upholstery, a premium audio system and Blue&Me-TomTom LIVE.

Although it has a lot of potential, an uprated version of the Ypsilon is simply not enough to put Lancia back on the map but it would represent a solid first step to keep the brand afloat.

2014 Highlander

Toyota has announced the 2014 Highlander will be priced from $29,215 when it goes on sale in the United States in February.

The entry-level model comes sparsely equipped but features an eight seat interior, a backup camera, an Entune audio system and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The LE Plus adds an eight-way power driver seat, an upgraded audio system, a tri-zone automatic climate control system and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The model also has fog lights and a power liftgate.

Moving up to the XLE rewards owners with heated leather front seats, a moonroof and a premium audio system with GPS navigation and an 8-inch display.

The range-topping Limited boasts perforated leather seats, heated / cooled front seats and a variety of safety systems. The model also has LED daytime running lights and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Depending on which model is selected, options include a heated steering wheel, second row captain chairs, ambient interior lighting and a Blu-ray entertainment system. The crossover can also be equipped with automatic high beam headlights, a dynamic radar cruise control system and a Smart Key system.

Under the hood, three different engines are available including a 2.7-liter four-cylinder, a 3.5-liter V6 and a hybridized 3.5-liter V6. Performance specifications were not released, but the conventional engines are connected to a six-speed automatic while the hybrid has a continuously variable transmission.

The four-cylinder engine is available exclusively with front-wheel drive, while the V6 offers an optional all-wheel drive system. The hybrid, on the other hand, is all-wheel drive only.

Motivation is provided by a Hybrid Synergy Drive system that consists of a 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electric motor-generator. It is connected to an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission and an electronic on-demand all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the crossover to produce a combined maximum output of 280 bhp (209 kW) and return an EPA-estimated 28 mpg city / 28 mpg highway / 28 mpg combined (US).

The 2014 Highlander will arrive at dealerships early next year, so expect to learn more closer to launch.

Honda has unveiled the S660 concept on the eve of the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show

Honda has unveiled the S660 concept on the eve of the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.

With the S660 concept Honda is providing a preview of an upcoming kei-car for the Japanese market that will go on sale sometime in 2015. It looks as if they designed the car by taking many styling cues from the EV-STER concept showcased two years ago at the same motor show. Honda removed the electric powertrain of the EV-STER and replaced it with a 3-cylinder 660cc turbo engine rated at 64 bhp (48 kW) sent via a seven-speed CVT.

he two-seater convertible makes use of carbon materials to keep the model as lightweight as possible. Power is provided by a 10kWh lithium-ion battery that will keep it going for around 160km and propels the concept from 0-60kph in 5 seconds.

Honda describes the EV-STER's styling as innovating and dynamic with dimensions stated to be 3,570mm long, 1,500mm width and a height of 1,100mm.

The production version will feature a fully retractable roof and will be sold exclusively in Japan. There are some reports indicating Honda plans to sell the car in other areas of the world with a turbocharged 1.0-liter engine outputting 100 bhp (74 kW).

Jaguar has released the first teaser image of the 2014 F-Type Coupe, ahead of its debut on November 19th. 

Previewed by the C-X16 concept, the production model will follow in the footsteps of the F-Type Roadster and adopt a stylish design with sensuous curves and muscular rear fenders. The teaser image also reveals the coupe will be available with a panoramic glass roof.

According to Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum, "The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Tokyo Motor Show for F-TYPE Coupe is a very significant moment."



Rumors are pointing at an entry-level version equipped with a turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine generating 240 HP (177 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm). At the other end of the lineup, the alleged F-Type R-S Coupe is going to pack more than 709 HP (522 kW) and should hit a top speed in excess of 200 mph (322 km/h). This range-topping model is scheduled to come out in 2016.

Engine options will likely carryover from the roadster so expect choices to include a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 340 HP (250 kW), a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 380 HP (279 kW) and a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 495 HP (364 kW).

The Jaguar F-Type Coupe will go on sale in North America next spring and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

According to a recent report, Mercedes was considering rebadged versions of the Nissan Titan and Frontier.

The models were inspired by the success of the Volkswagen Amarok and were scheduled to be launched by the end of 2016. While the models would have been heavily influenced by their Japanese counterparts, the Mercedes variants were slated to receive new fascias, a unique interior and a retuned suspension.

Despite some early development work, the models were reportedly axed because the Mercedes variants would only be available with a limited range of engines. Sources also told the publication that Mercedes wanted the Frontier to accommodate hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains but these weren't in Nissan's plans.

While the Mercedes trucks have been put on ice, an unnamed Infiniti official told the magazine they could offer their own luxury pickup.

Nissan Car Dealers in Japan

Nissan will preview the 370Z replacement at next month's Tokyo Motor Show with a brand new concept.

This piece of information was disclosed by Nissan's development boss Andy Palmer who also said the car will be "smaller and lighter" but without losing power compared to the 370Z. Chances are motivation will come from a smaller turbocharged engine, but we won't be surprised if the concept will use an electric drivetrain.

The production version on the other hand will use a gasoline mill once it goes official in the next couple of years. An August 2012 report indicated the 370Z replacement is going to use a powerful four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine installed in a smaller and lighter car wrapped around in a more attractive body. Despite the downsized engine, the 370Z successor will allegedly have just about the same level of performance as the current V6-powered model.

Andy Palmer told during this year's Frankfurt Motor Show that Nissan will later on launch a high-performance version developed by Nismo "to ensure it could compete in the market it's already in." He went on to say he already drove the car and it's "enjoyable and energizing."

Also at Tokyo Motor Show in November, Nissan might reveal a sub-370Z model which could turn out to be a production variant of the 2011 Esflow concept with either a gasoline-electric hybrid setup or an all-electric arrangement.

Nissan North America's senior vice president of research and development has revealed the automaker will soon offer five electric vehicles.

Speaking to Automotive News, Carla Bailo said "We haven't announced what models they will be, but we have plans for five." She declined to say when the models would be introduced but confirmed they will feature an inductive charging system that will allow owners to recharge the batteries wirelessly. Nissan reportedly sees the technology as a game changer as the executive promised that "Once that technology is ready, we will use it across our brands."

As you may recall, Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer recently confirmed Infiniti would delay their upcoming electric vehicle to incorporate "interesting advances in electric technology" including inductive charging.

Toyota has unveiled the face-lifted Sai in Japan.

Looking far more aggressive than its predecessor, the updated model has a new front fascia with a revised grille and LED headlights. The sporty styling continues out back as there's a new rear bumper and a revised trunk with full-length taillights. The model also gains 16-inch aluminum wheels and three new exterior colors including Red Mica Metallic, Grey Mica Metallic and Clear Stream Metallic.

The cabin has been significantly improved with higher quality materials and a modern design. Notable highlights include a new center console, revised switchgear, additional wood grain trim and metal plated accents. Customers can also order a new 10-speaker SD Navigation system with a microSD card slot, Blu-ray compatibility and two USB inputs.

Motivation is provided by a 2.4-liter (2,362cc) engine that develops 150 HP (110 kW) and 187 Nm (138 lb-ft) of torque. It is backed up by an electric motor that produces 143 HP (105 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. This setup enables the model to have a combined maximum output of 190 HP (140 kW) and a fuel-economy rating of 22.4 km/L (4.4 L/100km / 52.6 mpg US / 63.2 mpg UK) in the JC08 test cycle.

The Sai is currently on sale in Japan and pricing starts at ¥3,210,000 ($32,610 / €24,655).

The mystery of Nissan's Star Wars themed teaser has been solved as the company has taken the wraps off the 15RX Personalized Package for the Juke.

Set to go on sale in Japan, the model is available exclusively in Passion Red or Night Veil Purple. Styling changes are relatively limited but include sport stripes, contrasting mirror caps and 17-inch aluminum wheels with a dark finish.

 

The cabin is also largely untouched as the only difference appears to be two-tone upholstery in black and red or black and grey.

Like the standard model, the crossover is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter petrol engine that develops 114 HP (84 kW) and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) of torque.

The Nissan Juke 15RX Personalized Package will be priced from ¥1,943,550 ($19,950 / €14,945).

Debuts at IAA on September 10

Following a teaser published earlier this month, Infinite has released the first image with the Q30 concept which is scheduled to be unveiled to the public on September 10 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Infiniti says the concept is "not a coupe, not a hatch and not a crossover but a fusion of the three body styles." Aimed at the young crowd, the Q30 wants to be something special in the competitive premium compact segment. According to previous reports, the car will feature a three-way adjustable ride height system and will ride on the Mercedes-Benz MFA platform used on the A- and B-Class models.

A production version has already been confirmed for a 2015 launch and it will be made at the Nissan facility in Sunderland which will be expanded to accommodate the production increase. At the moment, the plant produces 500,000 cars annually but this will be increased by at least ten percent in the years to come.

Honda has launched a lightly face-lifted version of the Fit Shuttle which is still based on the previous-gen Fit/Jazz, even though the new model was revealed last month.

The compact MPV has received a new front bumper and grille, as well as new choices of alloys and hubcaps. There's also a "Smart Selection" grade for the hybrid version that comes with heated front seats and a partial leather interior featuring orange stitching on the steering wheel, gear lever and seats.

Just as before, the base model is powered by a 4-cylinder, 1.5-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine delivering 120 bhp (89 kW), while the hybrid makes use of a 1.3-liter gasoline mill working together with a CVT and a 13 bhp (10 kW) electric motor.

Already on sale in Japan, the 2014 Honda Fit Shuttle starts at 1.64M yen (16,600 USD) and tops out at 1.99M yen (20,200 USD).

Lexus has officially unveiled the 2014 GX, following a leak earlier this week.

Looking instantly recognizable, the face-lifted model is distinguished by a new front fascia with a prominent spindle grille. The model also gains LED-infused headlights, restyled taillights and a new rear bumper.

Interior changes are limited but include updated trim and a new infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen display. There's also a new Premium Package which adds perforated leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a tri-zone climate control system, Intuitive Parking Assist and GPS navigation.

If that's not impressive enough, the range-topping GX Luxury has an adaptable air suspension, Intuitive Parking Assist and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The model also has GPS navigation and 18-inch alloy wheels with a liquid graphite finish.


Motivation is provided by a 4.6-liter V8 engine that develops 301 bhp (224 kW) and 329 lb-ft (445 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a full-time four-wheel drive system with a limited-slip torque-sensing center differential. This setup enables the model to return an EPA-estimated 15 mpg city / 20 mpg highway (US).

The 2014 Lexus GX will be priced from $49,085 when it arrives at dealerships in September.

Set to be unveiled on September 10th, the crossover promises to "push the envelope of CUV design." While the teaser image doesn't reveal much, the company posted an undisguised thumbnail of the model on their consumer website. It shows the crossover will have a stylish exterior with plastic body cladding, chrome trim and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.



Engine options remain unconfirmed but previous reports have indicated the model will be equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that develops 182 bhp (136 kW) and 180 lb-ft (244 lb-ft). It will likely be connected to a continuously variable transmission and an optional all-wheel drive system.
