Toyota has announced plans to introduce a variety of concepts at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
The company is keeping details a closely guarded secret but they
confirmed plans to showcase the Harrier Modellista and Harrier TRD
Sportivo concept at the event.
First up, the Harrier TRD Sportivo concept has been equipped with an
aerodynamic body kit that includes a front spoiler, revised side skirts
and two rear spoilers. The crossover also has a revised grille, a TRD
suspension, a sports exhaust system and 18-inch aluminum wheels.
Likewise, the Harrier Modellista has a Ver.1 Aero kit with a front
spoiler, revised side skirts and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. There's
also lowering springs and 19-inch aluminum wheels with Yokohama tires.
Interior pictures were not released but Toyota says the model has
piano black trim, a wooden luggage compartment and LED lighting.
The car is scheduled to go on sale on December 2nd with a
2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a CVT sending power to a standard
two-wheel drive or an optional four-wheel drive system. The power unit
develops 151 HP (111 kW) and a peak torque of 193 Nm and enables the car
to have a fuel consumption in the JC08 Japanese cycle of 16 km/l (6.2
liters / 100 km or 37.9 mpg US or 45.5 mpg UK). It is connected to a
continuously variable transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
Wait until January 15, 2014 and you can order the new Harrier in a
hybrid version equipped with a 2.5-liter engine and an electric motor
providing a combined output of 196 HP (144 kW) and 206 Nm (152 lb-ft).
Toyota mentions the Harrier Hybrid will be sold exclusively with a
four-wheel drive arrangement.
The 2014 Toyota Harrier starts at 2,720,000 JPY (about 27,300 USD /
20,300 EUR / 17,175 GBP) for the standard model and from 3,610,000 JPY
(36,300 USD / 27,000 EUR / 22,800 GBP) for the hybrid derivative.
