Mercedes-Benz Japan - SLK 55 AMG roadster

Mercedes-Benz Japan has finally launched the SLK 55 AMG roadster for ￥4,930,000. Under the hood, the roadster gets the 5.5-litre V8 engine that develops 421bhp and 540Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission, which transmits power to the rear wheels of the car. The SLK 55 AMG accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in mere 4.6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. It sports AMG Sports suspension featuring torque vectoring brake and the AMG Direct-steer system. It comes equipped with AMG body styling with exclusive SLK 55 AMG front and rear aprons and side skirts, AMG high-performance internally ventilated and perforated disc brakes, AMG sports suspension, COMAND online with 6 DVD changer with HARMON KARDON surround sound, ECO Stop-start function and others.

Mileage

The SLK 200 KOMPRESSOR is powered by 1796cc of engine. This SLK 200 petrol engine is packed with both 6 Speed Manual Transmission and 5 Speed Automatic Transmission. The mileage is higher for manual transmission gearbox than the automatic one. The 6 Speed Manual Transmission makes changing of gears a joyful experience and offers a very smooth drive. This highly advanced engine provides an impressive mileage of 7.0 kmpl in the city roads and 11.2 kmpl on the highways.

The Mercedes Benz SLK 350 is powered by a petrol engine with a capacity of 3498 cc. This petrol engine is equipped with standard 6 Speed Manual Transmission and 7G TRONIC as optional. This not only provides a smooth shifting of gears but also helps in reduced vibrations and noises. The Inline type engine with 6 cylinders offer a mileage of 6.5 kmpl on urban roads and 10.1 kmpl on highways.

Braking & Handling

The all new Mercedes Benz SLK Class is a luxurious sedan which is equipped with a very sound and dynamic braking system. The front brakes are disc type, internally ventilated and the rear brakes are also disc brakes, solid. The sound braking system of the the vehicle is very efficient in decelerating the car when needed. The car is also endowed with the ABS (Anti lock Braking System) and Brake Assist which is of great help in detecting hazardous driving situation and prevents wheel locking in the event of panic braking etc.

It also has dynamic stability and excellent control of the car all thanks to the powerful suspension in the car. The model too features AMG sports suspension which comes clubbed with torque vectoring brake and AMG Direct-Steer system. This excellent suspension available in the car is highly advanced and can control the stability and steering wheel of the car efficiently.

When the sensor detects an impact from the rear, it thrusts the head restraint forwards in just few milliseconds and thus reduces the gap between itself and the occupant's head. It is also packed with airbags that offer protection against collision and also reduce the impact of injury. The belt pretension on the front seats and the outer rear seats offer greater safety to the occupants in the event of an accident.
