Subaru has announced the 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid will be priced from $25,995 when it goes on sale in the United States later this year.
Designed to combine fuel-efficiency with go-anywhere capability, the
XV Crosstrek Hybrid is distinguished by an active shutter grille, unique
alloy wheels, LED taillights and an optional Plasma Green Pearl
exterior that is exclusive to the hybrid model. The crossover also has
additional sound deadening material, a revised instrument cluster, an
improved HVAC system and a 4.3-inch LCD multi-information display that
shows the status of the hybrid system.
Power is provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that
develops 148 bhp (110 kW) and 145 lb-ft (196 Nm) of torque. It is
connected to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission which has
an integrated electric motor that produces 13 bhp (9 kW) and 48 lb-ft
(65 Nm) of torque. This setup enables the model to return an estimated
28 mpg city / 34 mpg highway / 31 mpg combined (US).
Despite the addition of the hybrid technology, the model still retains the XV's
off-road capability thanks to 8.7-inches (221mm) of ground clearance
and a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. The model has also been
equipped with "special chassis tuning" for more agile handling.
