Mazda has released some new details about the Axela / Mazda3 Hybrid.
Set to go on sale in Japan on November 21st, the Axela Hybrid will
feature a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor
and a continuously variable transmission. This setup will enable the
model to return up to 30.8 km/L (3.2 L/100km / 72.4 mpg US / 87.0 mpg
UK) in the JC08 cycle.
Mazda declined to release detailed specifications but the pictures
suggest the car will have a revised instrument cluster and a new
shifter. The trunk also appears to be significantly smaller than the standard model so prepare to pack lightly.
The Axela Hybrid will be available exclusively as a sedan and pricing starts at ¥2,373,000 (including taxes).
